Solar at Water Treatment Plants

ASTI Newsletter | Fall 2015 Edition | by Thomas Yurysta

Municipal agencies searching for the best place to install solar are increasingly looking to water treatment plants. These facilities have a high energy demand and large open areas to install panels, conditions that allow for an efficient installation with a high return on investment.

The Solar Roadmap team recently had the opportunity to attend and speak at a solar forum for water treatment plant employees in Illinois. This forum was hosted by the Central States Water Environment Association and all presentations are available on their website. Go there to read about case studies and considerations for water treatment facilities looking to go solar.
