Latest News: Bay Area Regional Renewable Energy Project Contract Negotiations Begin with Two Solar Providers
About the Program
A major collaborative solar project is underway in the San Francisco Bay Area—the Regional Renewable Energy Procurement (R-REP) Project, which focuses on finding and developing viable solar projects on public agency facilities across Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. Workforce development agencies and building trades have been actively engaged in the planning process to ensure maximum regional benefits from this project.
Project Scope
- Region: East and South San Francisco Bay Area
- Public agency participants: Counties, cities, and special districts in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties
- Solar PV: rooftop, carport, ground-mount, shade structures; Fuel Cells; Solar Thermal
- Goal: Procure up to 30 MW of new renewable energy generation for public agencies in the participating region through a group purchasing program
Project Status and Important Dates (Q2 2014)
- 187 potential sites vetted and included in the RFP, with over 31 MW of potential capacity
- RFP issued by County of Alameda on September 18, 2013
- Qualifications Submitted by 20 Vendors on October 22, 2013
- 17 Vendors notified as being qualified to submit proposals on October 29, 2013
- Proposals Submitted by 14 Vendors on January 14, 2014
- Memo of recommendation to award submitted to Alameda County Board of Supervisors on April 7, 2014
- Contract terms under negotiation with recommended Vendors in Q2 2014
